The Gokhran of Russia to purchase a batch of rough diamonds from ALROSA
ALROSA and the Gokhran of Russia reached an agreement to sell a batch of diamonds to the State Fund of Russia in December 2024. The gems will be delivered to the State Fund of Russia before the end of the year.
The batch of gems to be purchased by the Gokhran of Russia is composed of gem-quality diamonds of different color and quality, including a 390-carat diamond, the largest recovery in Russia over the past 10 years. The diamond was unearthed from the Ebelyakh deposit of Mayat mine in Yakutia in September 2023. A light crystal bordered by a yellow-brown halo – a unique combination of size, shape and color.
“Russian diamonds being in great demand all over the world will enrich our country’s treasury. The Gokhran’s intention to buy gems extracted by ALROSA shows the government’s confidence in their growing value as rare and unique natural diamonds become ever-growing rarity with each passing year”, commented by ALROSA CEO Pavel Marinychev
The deal is settled against the moderate increase in polished diamond prices in recent months.
