The search that started was interrupted by the great Patriotic war, but then resumed. In the late 40s, several geological expeditions were sent to Siberia. Search group of geoscientists sought to find diamonds on the river Vilyui and its tributaries —Small and Large Botuobin.

The first finds of individual diamonds in Russia date back to the XVIII century, but the constant scientific search for this stone began only in the late 30s of the last century. At that time, a monograph by the geologist Vladimir Sobolev on the geological similarity of South Africa and the Siberian platform was published.
